Syringe-injectable electronics
Syringe injection is the delivery method that makes ultrasoft mesh electronics practical to implant. A planar mesh, being mostly void, can be rolled up into a fine glass or metal capillary needle, injected through a sub-millimetre aperture into a target region or cavity, and allowed to unfold and partially recover its planar geometry in place. This minimally invasive route reaches deep or curved targets without the open surgery a rigid array of comparable coverage would require.
Reported device survival through injection is high, and the input and output leads can remain outside for connectorisation. Practical limits include controlling the final geometry and orientation after unfolding, achievable channel count within a needle bore, and the fact that injection precision does not by itself guarantee the sub-cellular placement of individual electrodes.
